March 2014 - The Path from IT Auditor to CIO


This will be a session for IT auditors and security professionals interested in pursuing a career in IT management. It will focus on the technical and soft skills needed to achieve a role in IT management. Discussion topics will include how to audit without burning the bridges you will need later.


W. Edward Young

Ed Young is the Vice President of IT Infrastructure at Regal Beloit. He is responsible for global IT infrastructure architecture, development, deployment, and operations.

Mr. Young has over 30 years in the IT industry focused on improving business performance through the use of architecture, technologies, and processes. He has experience in network, computing, collaboration, application development, product management, and internal auditing. He most recently was at Cooper Standard as the Senior Director for IT Infrastructure & Operations. Prior to that, Mr. Young was at Johnson & Johnson as a Global IT Technology & Engineering Development Director and AT&T as a District Manager.

Mr. Young holds an Executive MBA from Rutgers University, Newark, NJ and a BS in Information Systems from Quinnipiac University, Hamden, CT. He is a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor and ITIL Certified.

Tim Van Ryzin

Tim Van Ryzin is the Director of IT Security and Risk Management at Regal Beloit. In addition to his security responsibilities he is the IT lead for two divisions of Regal. He was recently responsible for the design and build of a Regal new shared services facility in Grafton, WI.

Mr. Van Ryzin has 20 years of progressive experience in IT and Audit. His IT experience includes systems development and infrastructure implementation projects. His audit experience includes internal audit at Harley-Davidson and external audit at Arthur Andersen and Deloitte.

Mr. Van Ryzin has BBA MIS and MBA degrees from UW-Milwaukee. He holds CISA, CISM, CISSP, PMP, and Six Sigma Black belt certifications.
