February 2014 - IT Strategy


This presentation will be a synopsis of Marge's IT Strategy class material. This session will focus on the advantages of simplification and consolidation of data and the application of technology in support of business process based on the principles of Enterprise Architecture from MIT’s Sloan School of Business.


Marge Vanderbok

Marge Vanderbok is the Manager of Process Management and Integrations. She manages a staff of six employees who are responsible for the development and implementation of the business processes and technology infrastructure support required to enable the company to operate competitively in the Midwest Independent System Operators (MISO). MISO is the power market for the Midwest region. We Energies trades approximate peak loads of 6,000 megawatts and transactions of $3 billion annually in the MISO day-ahead and real-time markets. Vanderbok is responsible for managing the application portfolio that performs critical long- and short-term forecasting, bidding tactics, value optimization and executive reporting functions.

Vanderbok joined the company in 1998. In the early years of her career at We Energies, Vanderbok was responsible for large scale information technology project management, including the establishment of the Y2K testing environment and execution of the multi-phased upgrade of the Energy Management System. This included significant changes to infrastructure and applications.

In addition to her professional work at We Energies, from 2007-2013 Vanderbok has served as an Adjunct Instructor in Marquette University’s MBA program. Her teaching experience includes courses in IT Strategy and Systems Analysis and Design.

An active volunteer, Vanderbok serves as a professional mentor and guest speaker for Marquette’s business school. She was a founding member of the We Energies Bike to Work Committee and has served as a site volunteer for the company’s Health Enhancement Initiative, a program that strives to help employees achieve and maintain good health.

She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Master of Business Administration from Marquette University.

A native of the Chicago area, Vanderbok currently resides in the Port Washington area.
