November 2013 - Taking Back Control: Data Loss Prevention for the Real World

The concept of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) is fighting a losing war against consumerization, rapid technology advancements, cloud computing, corporate social media initiatives, executives demanding new technology and devices NOW, and entitled end-users whose day to day personal computing activities are increasingly incompatible with the concepts of confidentiality, discretion, and rigor in information handling practices. These factors make it incredibly difficult to secure our confidential data and require some unique approaches to be successful.

Data Loss Prevention goes far beyond the implementation of a DLP 'system'. Every component and configuration in your technology environment impacts how effectively you are securing and controlling your information. This session introduces a framework for harmonizing people, process and technology factors in a controls-based approach to securing information.
