ISACA® MILWAUKEE Chapter
A committee was formed by Dave Cahill and Harvey Nusz to organize a Milwaukee chapter of the EDP Auditors Association (EDPAA). The first meeting of the committee was held on August 19, 1981 at the Wisconsin Electric Power Company. After some discussion, the committee unanimously agreed to name the chapter the Kettle Moraine Chapter. This name was chosen to reflect the idea that the chapter would represent the southern area of Wisconsin and not just the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The formal organizing meeting of the Kettle Moraine Chapter of the EDPAA was held on September 29, 1981. On November 1, 1981, the Kettle Moraine Chapter was granted a charter from the EDP Auditors Association. EDP Auditors Association took on a new name in 1994, Information System Audit and Control Association, and in 2005 it shortened the organization's name to ISACA. The Kettle Moraine chapter officially changed their name to the ISACA Milwaukee Chapter in 2019.
Today, the primary purpose of the Milwaukee Chapter is to promote the education of individuals for the improvement and development of their capabilities relating to the auditing of and / or management consulting in the field of IS audit, security, and control. The objectives of the Milwaukee Chapter are to:
- Promote the education of, and help expand the knowledge and skills of its members in the interrelated fields of auditing, quality assurance, security, and IS audit and control.
- Encourage a free exchange of IS audit and control, quality assurance, and security techniques, approaches, and problem solving by its members.
- Promote adequate communication to keep members abreast of current events in IS audit and control, quality assurance, and security fields that can be of benefit to them and their employers.
- Communicate to management, auditors, universities, and to IS professionals the importance of establishing controls necessary to ensure the effective organization and utilization of IT resources.
The Milwaukee Chapter supports these objectives through:
- Professional development and information exchange facilitated and provided through chapter meetings and seminars that provide an excellent opportunity to learn, share knowledge, and network with others involved in the audit, security, and control of information systems.
- Communication provided via our monthly newsletter and ongoing development of this web site.
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA®), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM®), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT®) and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC™) support and promotion via on-going development of this web site.
- Participation by providing opportunities for members to gain leadership and organizational experience serving as chapter officers and volunteers.
